Internet Information Services (IIS) Configuration

• Open the Internet Services Manager, which is a Microsoft Management Console snap-in. In Windows 2000, this is found in Start Menu - Programs - Administrative Tools.
• Navigate to the computer you want to host the sample pages.
• Navigate to the web site you want to create the virtual directory for. The default web site is titled Default Web Site.
• Right click web site and choose New - Virtual Directory. It will bring up wizard that will create Virtual Directory for you.
• Provide a name for your virtual directory eg. WS-Sample1.
• Then the wizard will ask you where it is going to load the content from. You need to point this to the folder where the sample files reside on the web server. The default installation path is <Program Files>\IRESS Web Services\Samples\WS-Sample1\WebPages\.
• For Access Permission, just go with the default values.
• Once the wizard is finished, a few configuration settings must be checked.
• Find the new virtual directory you just created, right-click and choose Properties.
• On the Virtual Directory page, Application Settings section, you need to make sure the Configuration button is enabled. If it is not, click the "Create" button.
• Click on the Configuration button, and on the App Options page, make sure the Enable Session State check box is checked.
• Click the "OK" button of the "Application Configuration" dialog.
• NOTE: This sample does not use your IE internet connection settings. You need to download the WinHTTP Proxy Configuration Utility. Follow the instructions in this download to properly configure your internet connection settings. For example, if you run "proxycfg -i" you will use your current IE internet connection settings.
• Now you should be able to view the sample pages through you web browser. Just navigate to http://localhost/WS-Sample1/ if WS-Sample1 was the name you use for your Virtual Directory.
